Website Development Cost in Pakistan: What You Are Actually Paying For
Why one quote says PKR 40,000 and another says PKR 400,000 for what sounds like the same website — and which one is lying.

In short: A business website in Pakistan can honestly cost PKR 40,000 or PKR 600,000. Both can be fair prices. The difference is almost never the number of pages — it is whether anyone did the strategy, the writing, the design and the testing, or just assembled a template.
What sits in each price band
- PKR 30,000–80,000 — a template, configured. A bought theme, your logo and colours, your text pasted in. Fine for a first presence if you have the content ready and no unusual requirements. You are paying for assembly, not for thinking.
- PKR 100,000–300,000 — a designed site. Real structure, a design made for your business, written copy, a content system you can update, proper SEO groundwork. This is where most serious SME sites belong.
- PKR 300,000+ — a site that does work. Custom functionality, integrations with systems you already run, a booking or quoting flow, performance work, multi-language. You are paying for software that happens to look like a website.
The costs nobody puts in the quote
- Content. The single most common reason a site sits unfinished for months. Someone has to write the words and gather the photos. If that someone is you, say so now; if it is them, it belongs in the quote.
- Hosting and domain. Small annually, but it is yours to renew. Make sure both are registered in your name, not your developer's. This causes more grief than any technical problem.
- SSL, email, backups. Usually bundled, occasionally not. Ask.
- Changes after launch. Every site needs them. Agree a rate now rather than discovering there is no arrangement when you need a price changed urgently.
How to compare two very different quotes
Put them side by side and ask what the expensive one includes that the cheap one does not. Usually it is some of: discovery, written copy, original design, responsive testing on real devices, speed optimisation, SEO setup, analytics, a CMS you can actually use, and a support period.
Then decide honestly which of those you need. A single-location business with existing photos may genuinely not need the expensive version. A business whose customers compare suppliers online almost certainly does.
What to insist on at any price
- The domain and hosting registered in your name, with credentials handed to you.
- It works properly on a phone. Most of your visitors will be on one — check it yourself before paying the final instalment.
- Every page loads in a couple of seconds on mobile data, not office wifi.
- Your contact form reaches a real inbox, tested with a real submission. This fails more often than you would believe.
- You can edit your own text without calling anyone.
If you have two quotes and cannot tell what separates them, send them over. We will tell you what each one covers, even if the answer is that the cheaper one is fine for you.
